# Directions:
01 - Combine ground flaxseed and water in a small bowl, then set aside for 5 minutes until thickened.
02 - In a large bowl, mash black beans with a fork or potato masher, leaving some texture.
03 - Add rolled oats, finely chopped onion, grated carrot, minced garlic, tomato paste, soy sauce, smoked paprika, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans and mix thoroughly.
04 - Stir the thickened flaxseed mixture into the bean mixture until fully combined.
05 - Allow the mixture to rest for 5 minutes to absorb excess moisture.
06 - Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
07 - Warm olive oil over medium heat in a large nonstick skillet.
08 - Fry patties for 5 to 6 minutes per side, until crisp and golden brown.
09 - Place cooked patties on buns and top as desired with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and condiments.
